Baldassare Forestiere devoted 40 years of his life to building – by hand – a subterranean complex of courtyards, grottoes, and sky-lighted garden rooms that brought cool relief from the Valley’s summer heat in the early 1900s. Gather for a private sunset tour and buffet dinner. Teresa Hurtado of Food for Thought will cater a Sicilian meal in honor of Baldassare’s Italian heritage, with an accordion player continuing the theme, playing nostalgic Sicilian melodies. The coda will be dessert in the Garden’s Grand Ballroom.
