Get a sneak peek of a smash hit during the final dress rehearsal of The Sound of Music. This last musical written by the revered team of Rogers and Hammerstein premiered in 1959 and became one of the most beloved pieces of American musical theater, as well as a big screen hit. Begin your evening with dinner at the historic Golden Restaurant. Then Impresario Dan Pessano will “Do-Re-Mi” the group over to the theater for a backstage tour before settling in for “My Favorite Things” and the other hits. Desserts and drinks are provided by the Coletts as you watch the full dress-rehearsal.

Join your host, famed landscape architect Bob Boro, for an elegant brunch in his ancestral family home in Fresno’s historic Tower District. Bob’s great-grandfather, Herman Levy, arrived in Fresno in 1874. His descendants, Herbert and Madeline Levy, built this 1930s Spanish style home designed by architect William Coates. In addition, Bob will share the quirky connection of his family history to the River Parkway Trust.

Party 18. LAVENDER – THE USEFUL HERB

This wonderful and prolific herb is useful in various ways. Its fragrance has graced many a wardrobe and its subtle flavor has enhanced both sweet and savory recipes. Fresno County Master Gardener Valerie Kissler makes organic lavender products and will be your instructor as she demonstrates some of the uses of this versatile herb. The party begins with a short presentation on the best types of lavender grown in the Valley: how to grow them, harvest them and dry them. Hand-made items will be displayed. Guests make their own lavender gifts to take home. A gourmet luncheon will be served in the historic ranch house.
